Assertiveness

Workshop Outline

This one day programme is designed for those who want to present themselves in a more positive and confident manner. The programme examines the difference between passive, assertive and aggressive behaviour and delegates will learn techniques to communicate more assertively.

Workshop Audience

Anyone feeling the need to be more assertive in their work or home life. Anyone who feels that they may be saying yes when their head and heart says no. Anyone who feels they are acting without respect for their or the other person's feelings, needs and wants.

Workshop Objectives

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to: Describe the differences between passive, aggressive and assertive behaviour by being able to;

  • Recognise their own behaviour style
  • Identify their barriers to acting assertively
  • Understand the contribution made by non-verbal communication to getting your message across
  • Describe the requirements of active listening
  • Demonstrate simple techniques for increasing assertive behaviour
  • Use positive affirmations to increase and assist in maintaining positive behaviour
